Mahindra & Mahindra has appointed Amit Kumar Sinha as the CEO of its newly created Holidays and Lifespaces Sector, bringing the group’s hospitality and real estate businesses under a single strategic structure. The move is part of Mahindra Group’s plan to give these businesses a more focused leadership and accelerate their growth.
Sinha currently serves as the Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Lifespace Developers. He will move into his new sector-level role after a successor is appointed to lead Mahindra Lifespaces. Until that transition takes place, he will continue in his existing position at the real estate company.
The new structure combines two businesses that operate in different but potentially complementary areas. Mahindra Holidays is known for its holiday ownership and hospitality business, while Mahindra Lifespaces operates in real estate development, including residential projects and integrated developments.
According to the group, bringing the businesses together under one sector is intended to create stronger operational coordination and help identify opportunities for growth. Mahindra Group CEO and Managing Director Anish Shah has said that both businesses have significant potential and that the new structure is designed to strengthen their growth trajectory.

The decision comes after a period of improvement in Mahindra Lifespaces’ business performance. The real estate arm has significantly increased its pre-sales over the past several years and has moved into profitability. This performance has encouraged the group to place greater strategic focus on its real estate and hospitality operations.
For Sinha, the new assignment represents a broader leadership responsibility within the Mahindra Group. He joined the group in November 2020 as President of Group Strategy and later became part of the Group Executive Board. During his time with Mahindra, he worked on projects involving growth, transformation and capital allocation across group companies.
The appointment also reflects Mahindra’s wider approach of organising businesses into focused sectors rather than managing them as completely separate operations. Such a structure can make it easier for the group to allocate capital, coordinate leadership and pursue opportunities across related businesses.
Real estate has become an increasingly important growth area for the Mahindra Group. Rising urbanisation, increasing demand for organised housing and growth in India’s major cities have created opportunities for established developers. Mahindra Lifespaces has been focusing on residential development as well as larger integrated developments and industrial clusters.
The hospitality business, meanwhile, benefits from India’s expanding domestic travel market. Rising household incomes and increased spending on leisure and experiences have supported demand for holiday and hospitality services. Bringing the two businesses under one sector could allow the group to evaluate these changing consumer trends from a broader perspective.
The leadership transition at Mahindra Lifespaces will be handled separately. The company has indicated that Sinha’s move to the new sector will take place only after a new CEO is appointed for Mahindra Lifespaces, helping ensure continuity in the real estate business.
For investors and the wider business community, the restructuring will be closely watched because it signals Mahindra’s intention to give greater attention to its non-automotive consumer and real estate businesses. The success of the new sector will depend on how effectively the group can improve coordination, grow its businesses and generate stronger returns.
Overall, Amit Kumar Sinha’s appointment marks a new phase for Mahindra’s holidays and real estate operations. With both businesses now placed under a dedicated strategic sector, the group is looking to build on their recent progress and create a more focused platform for future growth.
